Smith Family April News
Cooper and his fish.
Red Fleet State Park
Brandon and Mindy Smith Family News
I really enjoyed reading last month's newsletter... I printed it off so I could take it to the High School with me when I subbed. I love substituting at the High School. I can sit there and read all day!
We've gotten into the full swing of baseball season, juggling 3 kids' games and practices. I'm sure a lot of you know how that is... and more! My kids are delightfully average at sports, so don't be expecting all of the MVP reports that the rest of you give. ;) They all look really cute in their uniforms, and isn't that what really counts?
We were really excited to find out that Jason and Dallas are having a baby! I don't know if they'll write news or not, so I thought I'd throw that in mine. She's due November 3rd, and I'm hoping they have a boy. Or a girl. I like both kinds!
We went camping at Red Fleet State Park the 3rd weekend in April. It was so beautiful, and very uncrowded, which is why we went so early. The boys went fishing, and Cooper caught one. Tyler tried really hard! There are some amazing camping places really close to us... Red Fleet is only 15 minutes from our house, and the reservoir and surrounding hills are breathtaking. We're only 45 minutes from Flaming Gorge, so we've been up there a couple of times, too. We can't wait to camp there too. We'd love to camp with anyone who wants to meet us in this land of the dinosaurs!
Aubrey got to go do Baptisms for the Dead for the first time, which was really special for her. She also played her violin in Sacrament Meeting, and did a great job. She always gets really nervous when she has to perform, but she doesn't need to be! She also played her violin for a school research report on Shinichi Suzuki. She did a great job. I think she got 110% or something. She has extra credit coming out her ears, and she doesn't need it at all. I think she can't stop herself from getting every point possible in all of her classes. She's one smart cookie. She went to Colorado for the Science Fair, and on an Honor Society trip to Salt Lake.
Tyler loves baseball, and we're hoping he gets to finish the season. He was playing soccer at recess two days ago (still April news ;) and collided with a kid. He hurt his knee, and can't walk on it. It's very swollen, and the doctor is concerned about all the fluid, which is pointing towards injury. If he doesn't have a lot of improvement by Monday, he'll have to have an MRI. Since we don't have insurance yet, we're praying that it gets better. Yikes. Poor guy... he's been in a lot of pain. We found him some crutches at DI, so at least he can get around a little bit.
Cooper has been struggling with eczema, and it's been really bad on his arm. I convinced the doctor to give me a prescription for Cooper when I took Tyler in (Cooper wasn't with me... I just told him that I know how this eczema thing goes, since we've dealt with it many times before), so hopefully that will help clear it up. Cooper turned 7 in April! He's getting so grown up! And he's a fun kid to have around.
Brandon has been busy with getting his showroom put together, and doing the Home and Garden show here in Vernal.
Conference was wonderful, as usual. I've already relistened to all the sessions, and have enjoyed revisiting favorite talks. I laughed and cried listening to the talks as I cleaned new houses for my job. Good thing nobody is there with me... they'd think I was a little nuts! I sure love President Monson! Well, I think that about covers April. We hope you are all well.
Love, Brandon, Mindy, Aubrey, Tyler, and Cooper

Geoff and Felicia and Allston April news
April 2008
We are pretty much moved into our new home, and we are loving it. We went to church in our new ward for the first time last sunday and had a really nice time. All of our neighbors are really nice. Allston has started walking he is still a bit unsteady but he is doing so well. Allston is saying aprox 15 words now and signing even more words, Geoff and I can't believe how smart he is. Geoff is playing softball on a team with Jason and Brenda. He got hit in the chest by a ball tonight so he is a little sore. He really enjoys playing it's nice he has a fun thing to do when he isn't working. Geoff is still really enjoying his job, we really like that he is only gone 3 days a week.
Felicia is working 6 hours a week cutting hair at Great Clips. She really enjoys cutting hair but is glad to be able to be home with Allston so much

Smith Family March News
March was a mostly normal month for us, which translates as "not exciting". We had an addition to the family... a new puppy (german shorthair/chocolate lab mix) named Tess. She's cute. Mindy said no. Brandon and the kids won. We signed all 3 kids up for baseball. It's going to be fun to juggle practices and games. We went to Brandon's 17 year class reunion. What? You don't ALL have 17 year class reunions? (Don't ask why...) The kids had Spring Break, and we had a nice relaxing time coloring eggs with Brandon's brother Tanner, and his wife, Leisha. Mindy played her violin for numerous church things, you know, the normal. We went on a fun trip to Red Canyon Lodge near Flaming Gorge with some of Brandon's family. It was a beautiful, fun relaxing weekend. Mindy substituted for two weeks for the elementary music class until she came down with strep throat, which cost as much as she made subbing for 2 weeks. Nice. We love everyone, and we look forward to conference! Love, Brandon, Mindy, Aubrey, Tyler, and Cooper.

Smith Family February News
Brandon has been busy with work. He's a one-man show there, so he has to do everything. Everywhere is hiring in Vernal, so it's extremely hard to find good employees. Anyone want a job? He was called to be in the Elders Quorum Presidency, which is good for him. He's enjoying not being the EQ President anymore!
I, Mindy have been cleaning new houses for a side job, which is a lot of work, but good pay. I enjoy not having to deal with people. (Teaching violin lessons has its good people, and its bad..) I have also been Substituting at the school for a side side job. I just got called to be the Ward Activities Chairman. I have learned to be excited about it. ;)
Aubrey has had 3 babysitting jobs in the last 2 weeks, so it looks like her babysitting career has finally started to take off here in Vernal. She loves babysitting, and was so sad to leave her jobs in Rigby. She's been getting such awful grades in school... usually 103%, or 106%... (I'm being very sarcastic with the awful!)
Tyler is excited to start baseball, and has been doing well in school. He usually gets Cooper's breakfast for him in the mornings, and tries to do good things. He has been doing a little bit with scouts here, but it's not quite as organized or big as it was in Rigby, so he's a little disappointed about that. I'm not going to complain though, since I DO NOT want that job!!
Cooper has had a lot of growing pains, but he hasn't been doing a lot of growing. He'll be 7 in April, and has yet to lose a tooth. Maybe he's actually listening to us when we tell him not to grow up too fast! He's excited to start baseball, too, and is doing excellent in school. He is the top reader in his class, by far. (I know... I volunteer for a couple of hours each week in his class.)
Well, there's the news! If you want to know more, click on our personal blog link on the side. We love all of our family, and pray for those going through hard times.

Geoff and Felicia February news
So I know we didn't post too long ago but I thought I would do it before I forget. Allston's first birthday is coming up next month and I am so excited! It will be my first time planning a birthday party for my own kid. I wish I had all the money in the world to give him everything, my mom always gave Danay and I the best birthdays. We re going to have his party on the 1st of March at 4pm at my mom's house 7998s 3725w west jordan. I will send out invitations soon but I thought would put the address on the website in case you loose the invitation like I always do.
Geoff is still enjoying his job and I am enjoying having him home so much so is Allston. The only badthing is Allston is used to Geoff being home so when he is at work it's hard on Allston. While we play downstairs he keeps pointing at the door saying dada, it makes me sad. Geoff and I are also starting up a little business doing videography for weddings and other special occasions, we have a website set uo howellstudios.8k.com. It will be really fun if we can make some money doing it after all that is the kind of thing Geoff went to school for.
We also started up a fresh water fish tank and Geoff has been spoiling me and buying me a new fish just about every week, and new plants to decorate the cage. Our guppy Lady Houdini had lots and lots of babies that are doing well. We have transfered them from thier little birthing tank thing to thier own more roomy 1 gallon tank that is so cute it came with a light and a bubble maker thingy. I love animals, they are so fun!

January--Price Family
I'm trying to do what Mindy said, and write at least once a month, but honestly, we're just not that interesting. Life just kind of rambles on at a slow, but happy pace, without a whole lot of excitement.
Troy has been extra busy at work, and usually has to stay late (added onto his 10 hour days). This doesn't give him a whole lot of time with the family, and some days he doesn't get to see the kids at all. He leaves before they're awake, and comes home after they're in bed. He's such a good husband, though, and we're thankful he works so hard to support our family.
I've not been doing a whole lot besides being the mom, cleaning the house, and shoveling the darn snow off the driveway. I joined a women's Bible study that meets once a week, and we're reading the book Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World, which I'm really enjoying. I've read a lot of great books in the past couple of months. Other than that, I've just been enjoying Troy, the kids, church, and occasionally visits with friends.
Kaitlyn is doing okay. She's not doing so great in school, so we've really been working on that, and she's spent quite a bit of time grounded until she makes up missed work. She's in something called Up With Kids where they learn how to act and such, and will eventually put on a play at the end. She enjoys that, but keeps saying she wants to get back into cheerleading. She goes to Club 56 on Mondays, which is for the 5th and 6th graders at our church, and she really enjoys that. It's a fun chance for her to get out with kids her age.
Kevin is my sweet little boy, as always. He's in preschool, and he's learning so much. He's learning to write all his letters. He's also a little singer. Often throughout the day I hear him singing some song or other, either one he learned at preschool, or his favorite, "We Will Rock You". Lately I've even heard him reciting the pledge of allegiance, with his little hand over his heart. He's such a joy!
Ethan is growing way too fast, and when he's not sick (which is way too often) he's full of smiles and hugs. One of the things he always does when he's sitting on my lap is grab my hands and put them on his face. He really likes this, for some reason. He can say a few words, like dad, mom, bye, and more. Just the easy ones that he needs to get by. Otherwise he just points to what he wants, which can lead to a wild goose chase some days. Especially on the days when he's not feeling well, and he doesn't really know what he wants.
The only fun, exciting thing we did in January was yesterday, when we took the kids to the Circus. Kaitlyn and Kevin really enjoyed it, and Ethan enjoyed eating popcorn. The two older kids even got to ride an elephant, which cost the ridiculous price of $7 each for a couple minutes of riding. Oh well, how often do you get to ride an elephant? And with that thought, I'll end.

Tam and Ken News
This is me, Mom. We are tending Mindy's and Brandon's kids for four days this week while they are on a trip. They have been really good, and we've had lots of fun. Yesterday we went to Seagull Book to buy Aubrey a CD for her birthday, and then went to the Dollar Tree. Today we all went to the D.I., where Felicia also met up with us. We got some fun stuff. The kids have been good to do their homework each day, help alittle around the house, and practice violin and piano. For each good thing they do they earn a penny. Hey, that doesn't sound like much; but if they have .50 cents by Saturday they get $5.00 from Grandpa. However, they lose pennies for fighting or screaming.
We enjoy visits from Geoff and Felicia now and then. I had fun looking at a house with them. Sooner or later they want to buy a house. Allston is so cute and fun.
We had Brenda and Troy and their kids come Sunday for supper. Their kids are really cute, too. Ethan walks all over now, and is quite friendly now that he isn't sick. After supper Geoff and Felicia came over, and we played some games.
Not too long ago Jason took me out to lunch, and we had a nice visit for a few hours. I want to see Ashley and Olivia soon. I miss them. How about coming to dinner next Sunday?
Well, that's about all that's going on around here right now.
We will miss our beloved Prophet, President Gordon B. Hinckley. The first couple of days after he passed away, I watched all the specials and news broadcasts about him, and I cried until my eyes were sore. I loved him so much. He was truly a prophet, and always had such wonderful things to say. Love, Mom, Grandma, Tam

Ok so newsy stuff huh well I will try I'm better with the silly stuff. Allston is crawling so well now and will pull to standing on anything and everything. He has stopped sleeping through the night now because he can stand up in his crib and that is so much more fun than sleeping so I am exhausted and about ready to tape him to the floor. I am so gratefull that Geoff has such a nice job and can be home so much to help me during the week. Geoff is enjoying his new job as a water treatment plant operator and we are both loving the three day work week and the four day weekends. I don't get alot done anymore my floor is cover in laundry and the dishes need to be done and the floor needs to be vacumed I think I pull 10 things a day from Allstons mouth that he picks up off of the floor. Most of it is his food that he throws around and it would probably just easier to let him eat it but I am paranoid about him swallowing something bad after that whole swallowing a piece of metal incident. Geoff bought me two fish one is about to have babies and I am so excited! I love baby animals, I make geoff take me to the pet store to see the puppies at least once a week. And last but not least for this months news is Geoff and I are teaching Primary, I was not so excited at first but now that I have been doing it for a few weeks I love it. It amazes me every week to listen and to teach these 7 year old children and to hear their testimonies. It is such an amazing experience to belong to this gospel, I love how simple and beautiful the teachings are, even the seven year old kids know the gospel is true I love to hear there testimonies every week.

I guess I should write some news even though there isn't a whole lot to write about. I just started a new semester in school and homework is starting to get crazy again, but I don't feel like doing it. There is a lot of interesting things that I'm learning about, but it is difficult sometimes to undertand everything. In one of my classes we are designing a robot that is supposed to pull a chariot around a figure 8 track. It will use sensors and stuff to know where it is and be able to steer around the coarse. We still have a ways to go to get it finished though, so that will be a fun project.
Other than school, I keep busy with all the callings that I have. I am the Stake YSA Representative so I go to a lot of meetings to plan for activites and other things like that. I enjoy it because I like to be involved with what is going on. I also teach Mission Prep on Sunday mornings. We have about 15 students that come weekly so it is a lot of fun. I've been doing that ever since I got home so some of the students that I had from the beginning have already come back from their mission. One of them helps me teach the class. My last calling is a Sunday School teacher. I love to teach from the scriptures and make class exciting.
I've been going on a bunch of dates and have been having a lot of fun. Everyone can just be patient though and I'll tell you all if anything happens. I promise.
I'm having fun learning different instruments. I started learning to play the guitar over Christmas break and it is a lot of fun. I've learned a couple of songs and I'm excited to learn more when I have the time. A couple of friends and I are going to start a band and we'll have a few instruments in there. We just started yesterday so we'll see when we can get our first CD out and become famous.
One thing that we like to do is go and play some music at Primary Children's Hospital. They have a piano in a foyer area and we play that, the violin, guitar, and sing. It is fun when there are kids going by because we can help cheer them up with songs about chickens and trains and stuff.
I think that is all of the news that I have for now. I'm sure monthly updates will be most of the same kind of stuff, but you can just read the same things again then.

We'll Be Good, We Promise!
In case members of the Howell family get upset because I deleted a bunch of posts...it has been requested that we keep this newsworthy, and not silly. :) Mom and Dad wanted me to, and I had to agree with them, so I guess you can blame us all.
If you are checking in here to get news of various members of the Howell family, we promise it will be actual news, and not jokes. Well, sometimes our lives are a joke, but we promise they will be real jokes, not pretend ones. :)
So, keep checking in. Mindy will be posting a monthly update here, and hopefully everyone else will do the same!
So, to keep this newsy,
TAM and KEN are doing a good job being parents of a bunch of grown kids, and grandparents to a bunch of wild hoodlums. I mean, grandchildren. They stay busy with their jobs, and church stuff, and going to D.I. Well, at least mom stays busy with that...
MINDY and Brandon are doing well, and adjusting to the bitter bitter cold in Vernal. Who knew it rarely got over 0 degrees here? The kids are making friends, and doing well in school.
JASON and Dallas are happy and doing well, as far as I know. ;) Ashley and Olivia are growing like weeds, and getting more beautiful every day. Jason worked hard on an awesome game for our family Christmas party. We got to know things about each other that we never would've known otherwise!
BRENDA and Troy's kids are also growing up way too fast, and continuing to be cute as buttons. Kaitlyn is a good beauty parlor participant, and Kevin and Ethan still take a little time to warm up to everyone, but we enjoy watching them from a distance.
GEOFF and Felicia are as entertaining as ever, and Allston couldn't be cuter. They keep the parties going, and also keep our hair in line. Felicia is the resident hair dresser.
ADAM and his gang are doing great. He's working on schoolwork like crazy, and doing well. He is dating, but nobody in particular... yet. He's a good kid, and we're glad he's our little brother.
If anyone mentioned above didn't like what I said about them, then they can type their own news. :)
December and part of January for the Smith Family
December was pretty crazy for us, with moving and all. We tried to have a normal Christmas, but it did seem rushed. We had nice visits with both Brandon's family and my family, and we were given so many nice gifts. We appreciate everything everyone does for us! When we visited the Howells we had our family pictures taken, and that last post was a joke about it, if you couldn't tell. ;)
Aubrey is turning 12 tomorrow! We are very excited for her, but feeling a little old. She is so excited to be in Young Womens! She's been wanting to go to Young Womens for, oh, about 6 years now. She had a birthday party last night. We let our kids have a party with friends when they turn 8 and when they turn 12. That's enough!! She had some really nice girls over, and they ate pizza and had cupcakes and popcorn and watched a movie and did their nails... all that girly stuff. We had them all home before midnight... we do "late nights" instead of sleepovers. The picture is of Aubrey and her friend Savannah at her birthday party.
Tyler and Cooper built a fun little igloo in our back yard. We had to force them to go play outside, but once they were there, they had fun. It's so cold here!!
We enjoyed reading the newsletter. It's nice to know what is going on with everyone's lives.
Love, Brandon, Mindy, Aubrey, Tyler, and Cooper
